Monday, June 11th, was our first social skills instructional session at our new meeting place.  We met from 2 pm-3 pm at the Christian Life Center of First Baptist Church of Huntsville.  We discussed our previous outing and practiced introducing "new" people to others.  The young adults were able to introduce themselves to the group comfortably and utilize a chart to introduce another group member to the the whole group.  I was amazed at their recall ability.

Afterwards, we discussed tidbits of information taken from 2007 Hidden Curriculum:  One-A-Day Calendar.  The calendar is filled with "Items for Understanding Unstated Rules in Social Situations and was written by Brenda Smith Myles.  Brenda's books and calendar can be purchased through AAPC:  Autism Asperger Publishing Company.    The company's email is www.asperger.net.

Monday, June 25th is our next meeting.  We will meet for an "instructional lesson" and discussion for the first hour and will participate in a "social hour".  We have made plans to bring snacks, drinks and board games to share.
